Joan Jett was born in Philadelphia, but moved at a young age with her family to Hollywood, California. She began her musical career as a guitarist and composer of the female hard rock group The Runaway. A few times she sang in this group.
After The Runaway apart went in 1980 they produced an album for the punk group The Germs. Later she began a solo career. She scored her biggest hit, with her band the Black Hearts in 1982 with the song I love rock n 'roll, that in the Netherlands the number 1 position won.
Besides singing Joan Jett played in a movie and played it on Broadway.
